- 1. Saw (2004) In depth character analysis of a thriller As I will be acting in our trailer Out Of Time, I wanted to find out more on character roles in a thriller as that will be our genre. The movie I have decided to analyse is Saw because I am a massive fan. The main character is Jigsaw who is played by Tobin bell who is currently In his late 70s. This is very similar to our trailer as our main character is played by an elderly man. In the saw franchise, Jigsaw was once an engineer dying from cancer. He wanted to commit suicide but after failing he started to appreciate life a bit more. However, he then started his only series of games to test if other did just like him and these involved life and death which were full of blood and gore. Jigsaws character is very complex as he to himself thinks he is a heroin but really deeply and truly can very come across as evil. This is due to him killing people who are not innocent but the manner of the deaths are gore. Throughout the saw franchise is filled with thriller and mystery. In our trailer, I want to be able to appear as a very mysterious person to the audience so they think to themselves who is it. I also want to spark fear in the audience aswell wbich would have them asking a lot of questions.
