ony is a student from
China. Like many internati-
onal students, he felt a bit
depressed during his first
year of studying abroad. It
was hard to find motivati-
on. I wanted to perform well in my
course and make new friends. But also I
wanted to improve myself as a person:
my ambitions, inspire others. I started
thinking: how could I achieve that? Now
Ive formed a group with nine other
students, from various courses. Together
we talk about our performances in
interview
I want to inspire
motivation and ambition
Hang He (Tony is his English name), a second-year student of the short degree
Marketing course, has formed a group with other students to make sure he and
his group members succeed. Not just at university, but also as persons.
SAX interviewed him about this idea.
projects and exams. But also about
experiences in other areas. Weve become
more of a kind of family.
Is it working? I really think so. At least
for me it has worked. When you think
youve failed your exam, the group is
there to share your experience. They
motivate you for the next exam period
and make sure you keep a positive spirit.
We are also there for good experiences.
Like, for instance, if I got a high score in
the exam, I can share how I achieved it
and share study tips. I noticed that I felt
embarrassed to share my failures, but
the group has changed that. And it made
me perform better. It changes your
attitude positively.
In the period before the holidays Tony
gave a presentation of his groups idea,
called: The family of, to first-year
international students. I hope I inspired
them to make sure they have a group of
people around them, who they can talk
to. And in that way it increases their life
ambition and motivation.
