Things I like about the front page The gradient of the background in which the
picture and mast head are set on, they’re a
difference of colours which blend into each
other. It’s not too bold therefore it doesn’t
give off a harsh connotation.
I like the placing of my mast head
as it’s in the centre of the page and
the writing is large to capture the
attention.
I like logo I created for the magazine, the
shaping of the logo and the order of the
letters ‘UDC’ which represent ‘Uni De
Couplet’.
I like the image I have used for the
magazine as it represents a pupil
in the Uni. They look respectable
and responsible.
The pupil also looks approachable
and friendly, which is the inviting
look I wanted people to gather
from my school magazine.
I like the mid shot of the pupil as it
focuses mainly on her face and
gives a insight of the type of
clothes acceptable to wear at the
Uni.
Things I don’t like about the front cover Although I liked the smooth gradient
of the background, I dislike the colours
I have used. The orange and dark
orange colour scheme is not a nice
colour to have. The connotations of
orange do not represent a smart and
acceptable work place.
The font I have used throughout the front
cover represents the stereotypical frat
house. Often frat houses are used in
America but have some form of welcome
in the UK. The stereotypical view of a
fraternity is rebellious and bad, I don’t like
that it represents the Uni in that way.
I dislike the background/ mise-en
scent of the image. It looks messy
and doesn’t represent a working
place. There is a wooden barrier
behind the student and in front of
the window which goes against the
colour scheme of the background.
The buildings in the back disturb
the peace of the image.
I dislike that I hadn’t used a puff as
it doesn’t show all of the
techniques used in a magazine.
The lack of magazine techniques
used on the front cover disappoints
me as it hasn’t given the cover a
magazine look/feel.
I dislike the choice of colour
scheme. All of the writing are
different colours. They’re in a
unorganised pattern, this
represents the magazine/school to
be messy.
I also dislike the lack of cover
lines as it doesn’t give the
magazine a real full article to
get the students to buy it.
I dislike that I haven’t applied a
barcode or a price for the students
to see. This causes the magazine to
look un-realistic and may make
students not buy it as the price of
the magazine is unknown.
Things I like about the contents page
I like that the title of the contents page
is the same as the front covers master
head.
I like the order of the pages, the set
out of whereabouts In the magazine
they are.
I like that the background of the
contents page fits the same
background of the front page, this
is creating a certain theme for the
magazine.
I really like the image of the two
students. The student closest to the
camera is the same girl who was on the
front cover, this is good as its showing
links between the two images.
I like that the image is showing the
students working as it represents the Uni
as a hard working area. It also shows that
the Uni has access to computers which
may make the students want to join.
I like that I have applied
the logo to the contents
page as well as the front
cover, it links the two
together and represents
the Uni.
I like the variation of pages used in the
magazine. Also the bold colours to show
each page clearly.
I like how the shot is at a
candid, showing both the
students but in a different
angle.
The pose candid shot makes the magazine look
artificial and reliable of work.
Things I don’t like about the contents page
I dislike the order of the
contents. I don’t like the way
it has all been set up. I think
the order of the writing and
image looks wrong and
unorganised.
I dislike the use of colour, the green
writing and the black page colours,
along with the vibrant orange
background does not match. The
image of the students and the mise-
en-scent ignores the colour scheme
and does not match.
I don’t like the sharp gradient of the
Background, the colours switched from a
very vibrant orange to a dark purple. I
could have eased the colours together by
blending them better.
The page numbers are unreliable. They jump
from 1 to 5 with a subject of not very many
factors.
The all overall view of the contents page does not
represent or portray a practical and serious Uni.
The size of the logo is too
small, it looks very pushed
together and unclear.
The picture does not fit the background.
They do not blend together and it’s a
very harsh lining. The picture shows a
large difference of variation of colours
compared to the background.
The tools I have used
I used the adjustment tools to edit
the picture slightly, this ensures the
picture fit the bright background.
The levels filter helped me make the
picture more bright, to bring out the
background and pupil more.
I used the brightness/contrast tool,
this created the image to have a
more sharp contrast of colours which
showed each colour clearly.
I used the
background
gradient to
make the
shades of
background
to go into
each other.
I used
text and
basic
fonts,
including
colours.
With the contents page I used
the background gradient.
I used
basic fonts
and
colours for
the
text/writin
g.
