A Screenplay by James McConnell
A lonely theatre technician, Dave, is hired by a journalist to collect
information about a famous director who works in the theatre. When Dave
struggles to gather enough information he begins making it up, which gives the
journalist a front page headline and the director gets fired. Feeling guilty and
even more lonely, Dave contemplates suicide before being stopped by the
director who quickly becomes his friend.
• I used to volunteer as a lighting technician
• People often forget you are there when on the lighting rig, and so speak
freely thinking nobody can hear them
• The idea is a largely exaggerated scenario of the times this happened,
partly taking inspiration from the Netflix serial House of Cards.

• Emma Watson shows determination in and out of her acting roles
• Usually plays strong minded and intelligent characters
• Has also played parts in comedy films such as This is the End
• Damien Blake is an arrogant, yet successful theatre Director
- you hate him but you want to be his friend
• The audience should feel sympathy towards him when he loses his job
