The document provides instructions for an activity where students will draw a picture with 10 hidden items and use prepositional phrases to describe the location of each item. Students are asked to draw the picture on one half of the paper and write 10 sentences with prepositional phrases specifying where in the picture each item is located on the other half. The goal is to have students practice using prepositional phrases by coming up with descriptions of the locations of hidden objects in their own illustrated "search and find" scene.
2. Write a prepositional phrase to answer the question,
Wheres Waldo?
1. Waldo is in the center of the picture.
2. Waldo is behind the green and white stripped towel.
3. Waldo is to the left of the red and white stripped tent.
3. Your Turn
You are going to create your own Search and Find
picture.
On the top half of your paper, draw a Search and Find
picture and identify 10 different items in that picture that
you want your classmates to find.
Use the other half of your paper to write 10 sentences
with 10 different prepositional phrases that describe
where your items are located in your picture. (See the
example on the next slide.)
THE PICTURES AND THE SENTENCES GO ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE PAPER.
4. Find:
1. The bird is
above the
dog.
2. The beach
sign is under
the lifeguard
tent.
5. Find:
1. The spider is next to the butterfly.
2. The smiling flower is above the snail.
6. Search and Find
There are 15 items scattered at certain
locations.
Search these locations to find the items. On a
sheet of paper, write a complete sentence using
a prepositional phrase to tell where you found
each item. Make sure to underline the
prepositional phrase.
EX: The lion is under the desk.
The team which finishes first by being back in its seat
with all the sentences completed correctly wins a big,
big prize and a check with $1000.00 in it!
