Editor's Notes

  • #2: SEO really encapsulates how all of social media works. If you really understand how a search engine works, and how to SEO, then you will be very successful on the interwebs.
  • #4: Its all about searchability
  • #12: Its all about searchability
  • #14: Its all about searchability
  • #15: Presented to you through The Dao of Zhao, wesleyzhaos 3 鴛鰻赫s
  • #16: Keywording probably the most important aspect to understand. This determines how you describe something, what you describe, and how others will find you.
  • #17: back-scratching determines how linked you are in a network. Google (and other SEs) analyze this through web crawling. Figuring out what sites link to what sites, who goes where from what.
  • #18: Spam-ming. Not as bad as it sounds. By spamming, I mean youre spamming the web. Google likes things that show up a lot. So spam the web through repeating key terms, multiple profiles, multiple ways of making yourself visible.
  • #19: Word-choice is key.
  • #20: Word choice in everything but mostly think about titles of blog posts, captions of images or anything, content of the post. Noone thinks about images, but the way you tag/describe an image can be a HUGE factor in traffic to your site.
  • #21: Heres an example. Who would like to make an example of themselves?
  • #22: Describe to me, if you were searching for another copy of this picture, how would you describe it to google?
  • #23: You= user, I =content manager, google=linker. Google directs to whoever matches the best. The more descriptive you are, the more likelye youll get a big audience and a big captive audience. Key-word every chance YOU GET
  • #24: The more links that point to you, the more google likes you. I scratch your back, you scratch my back.
  • #25: Some of the ways we can back scartch is the trackback, listing them as something youve cited, blogroll, so actually featuring them on our main page, RT (retweeting to show they are cool), and @mentioning for giving them credit.
  • #26: An Example, I was at Columbia City
  • #27: CC Citizens listened in, found what I said about columbia city and retweeted me. I felt pretty cool.
  • #28: If youre an ever-ominipent being that is ubiquitous on the netnoone can ignore you. Especially not google. This means we need to be making ourselves visible, and helping to make our blog visible (which is later after incubation) by linking people to it, referencing it and the whole SHAbang.
  • #29: Look at me TWitter
  • #30: LinkedIn
  • #31: Digg
  • #32: FriendFeed
  • #33: Disqus
  • #34: StumbleUponIm everywhere with the same profile. It is likely if someone searches some key terms about me they will find me wharton intern ch2m one of the top, senior wharton intern ch2m the top.
  • #35: Spamming. All about presence. Making yourself visible. You have to stay active.
