The document provides a summary of the SEAS 2009 Summer Exploring Architecture Studio organized by the Architectural Heritage Committee of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Over the course of two weeks, students toured various architectural sites in Tampa Bay, including historic buildings, works by Frank Lloyd Wright, and public infrastructure, and learned about architecture and preservation from guest speakers. Key locations visited included the Tampa History Center, Franklin Historic District, Florida Southern College, Tampa International Airport, and the offices of local architecture firms.

TUESDAY JULY 14 Kress Grants Woolworths Stephanie Ferrell FAIA We walked to the south and saw the Kress, Grant’s, Woolworth’s block. Ms. Ferrell told us that they were significant historical buildings. SEAS 2009

THURSDAY JULY 16 Florida Southern Antonio Amadeo AIA The Frank Lloyd Wright Campus of Florida Southern College is the largest collection of Wright’s buildings in one location. The campus is on the National Historic Register. SEAS 2009

FRIDAY JULY 17 Wilson Miller Michael English took us on a tour of the Wilson Miller offices. The building is a converted cigar factory in Ybor City. Wilson Miller is a planning firm with civil engineers, planners, landscape architects. SEAS 2009

THURSDAY JULY 23 Richard Brewer SEAS Alumnus Richard Brewer is an alumnus of SEAS 2007. He is currently enrolled in the architecture program at Florida Atlantic University. He told us how he prepared and submitted his application and he brought samples of his first year project. He also described what life as an architecture student is like! SEAS 2009

He told us how he prepared and submitted his application and he brought samples of his first year project. He also described what life as an architecture student is like! SEAS 2009
