Albert M Butz
- Patented his damper-flapper
invention a thermostat that
regulated furnace heating.
The Sensor
- Thermostat being a sensor that
detects temperature and in return
performs actions.
- Argued to be the first sensor invented.

solution.
Fibre Optics
- Thin flexible fibres that contain a glass
core which light travel through.
The Sensor
Measures light attenuation via measuring
bends in light via heart beat,
respiratory and movement.
Can measure other parameters such as
bed exit pre-alert, turning reminders,
sleep analysis.

Dumb Objects
Take for example a floor, a chair or even
room. Traditionally there is nothing
smart about these objects.
Smart Objects
- But with sensors and IoT connectivity,
data can be extracted, interconnected
and reviewed in large scale.
IoT

- We turned the floor into a smart floor. Based
on a capacitance measuring technology.
- Low voltage sensors detect changes in the
electric field to interpret location.
- Data wirelessly communicates to computer
to interpret functions such as location,
speed, direction, falls, room entries etc.
- Software runs actions and alerts to provide
real-time insights across many rooms.
