 How History Moves
 Agha H Amin
However one brave Hindu rebel sepoy named Dars Singh
from 11 Native Infantry as per British accounts
deliberately fired into an artillery ammunition wagon of
rebels now almost in companys hands ! 1
The ammunition wagon exploded and Captain Francis
Andrews of 1/60 Rifles was blown into bits !2
The 2 British
1
The name of the 11th
Native Infantry soldier is also based on a British accounts and since I am travelling and based
in Afghanistan .See Page-99- A POSTSCRIPT TO" THE RECORDS OF THE INDIAN MUTINY. AN
ATTEMPT TO TRACE THE SUBSEQUENT CAREERS AND FATE OF THE REBEL BENGAL
REGIMENTS, 1857-1858. By Lieutenant-Colonel G. H. D. GIMLETTE, C.I.E. (Indian Medical Service) - H.
F. . WITHERBY 326 High Holborn, London, W.CJ 1927.Gimlette calls the Havaldar Dars Singh while the 60th
Rifles monument in UK describes him as Devi Singh.

soldiers of 60th
Rifles as shown in casualties were also
probably blown to bits in this incident and thus accounted
as missing.
The British chaplain above cited was intellectually honest
and also confessed that Enflied Rifle played a decisive role
in the companys victory in this battle.3
If Pakistan Armys much propagated general Javed Hassan
who in his book India A study in Profile , much patronized
by Pakistan Armys Command and Staff College Quetta
,under the stewardship of one general Amin Barki had read
about Dars Singh he would have thought twice before
launching the Kargil faux pas !
This narrative being about the spirit of man and having
nothing to do with any sort of cheap ideology or
nationalism , this scribe has no hesitation in
complimenting bravery , regardless of race and religion.

artillery, under the able direction of that excellent officer (now, alas! no more), Lieutenant- Colonel Murray
Mackenzie, and partly to the very effective fire of the Enfield Rifle.
