                                              Unit wrap up
Dear Parents,

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. I hope you enjoyed spending time with your families
during this special Chinese festival.

This week was another busy one, but this time a great deal of independence was
granted to the students as they worked on, peer edited and published their poetry. I
look forward to sharing with you the various poetic structures and literary devices
the students used to express ideas and themes of personal importance to them.
Next week we will begin the process of familiarizing ourselves with procedural texts
as part of our new transdisciplinary unit, How the World Works.

Students were as busy familiarizing themselves with Prezi (which most students
agreed was much better than Keynote or PowerPoint in making presentations) and
using this tool to create and present their own communication tools. Again, once the
work is finalized, we will post our Prezis to Youtube. The creativity and ingenuity
demonstrated by the class as a whole was quite impressive.

In our Numeracy next week we will finalize our Data Handling and Analysis before
starting our Measurement (integrated) and Number (stand alone).

We aim to begin our new unit, How the World Works by Tuesday or Wednesday.
An update outlining the concepts, attitudes, Learner Profile attributes and teacher
questions will be sent soon. Watch this space.

Please note: Monday is DDD and the theme is pink in memoriam of Alan
Dick

Please note (from Nurse Karla)
Each student MUST return either the consent or refusal portion of both the MMR and the
Hepatitis B form. Students who return a consent form must also bring their ORIGINAL IMMUNIZATION RECORD
so that the nurses can record the given immunization. If your child doesn't have their immunization record, please tick
the box on the left side of the consent form.

Please return your child's consent or refusal form by Monday, September 27th. If consenting, please send in
your child's original record or tick the box. If you are refusing the immunization, there is no need to send the record in.

Kind Regards
DJ MacPherson
