The teacher is excited to start the new school year and hopes the student and parents share her excitement. She has been teaching 4th grade for 9 years after working as a media specialist for 7 years. On Tuesday, the class will discuss their hopes and dreams to set class expectations and guidelines. The teacher expects this to be one of the best school years for the students as they will read stories, learn about different regions of the US, study science topics, learn new math concepts, and go to Wolf Ridge in May. She provided her contact information and a form to sign up for a class email group.

August 29, 2012 Dear Student and Parents, I am so excited to start the year and I hope you are feeling the same! We are in for a WILD journey. This is my 9th year teaching 4th grade. Before that, I was the media specialist here at Shirley Hills for 7 years. I love reading, computers, learning, and laughing. I have a blog that can be found at http://4- 1mrshenkelsclass.blogspot.com/. When you visit it, you will find schedules, links to the 4th grade blog, and lots of stuff from last year. I am looking forward to adding more this year. Tuesday we will go over fourth grade hopes and dreams. From these, we will set up class expectations and general guidelines. I’ll be sending home more information once we finalize it together as a class. I am almost positive we are about to start one of, if not your best year of school. We will be reading great stories, explore the regions of the United States in Social Studies, investigate the properties of water and magnets and electricity in Science, tackle a our new Math series, and to top it all off Wolf Ridge in May. Whew!!! Remember to call or email me if you have any questions or information that you would like to discuss.
