Ushering is a ministry that welcomes people on behalf of the entire church, not just a few individuals. Creating a comfortable environment where people feel welcome physically, psychologically, and spiritually is important. People often decide if they will return to a church within the first ten minutes based on their initial impressions, so ushers play a key role in setting a positive tone through qualities like being ten feet tall, having a thankful attitude, and demonstrating excellence that represents Jesus.
