Union National Community Bank opened a 3,400 square foot branch in 2006 that combined traditional banking services with a full-service café, called a Gold Café, which served espresso drinks, smoothies and food with patio seating. The concept was revolutionary for financial institutions at the time. The document's author was solely responsible for the concept design of both the banking facilities and café, as well as branding development for the client bank. Due to the uniqueness of combining a café with a bank, it required many meetings with the bank's executive staff and local jurisdictions for approval.

description:
Union NationalCommunity Bank’sGoldCafés were heralded widely around the financial
industry as a fresh innovation in branch design. The concept was a revolutionary
combination: one part bank branch, one part upscale, fully-functioning café. There
were espresso drinks, smoothies, menus, patio seating, checking accounts, loans, and
even “financial baristas.” The concept design for both the banking facilities and cafe
was my sole responsibility along with branding development for the client. Due to the
uniqueness of the project and not confirming to a typical financial institution it involved
many meetings with UNCB’s executive staff and local jurisdictions.
