Online Parent Meeting – available Tuesday 8/27/13

General Guidelines
 Coaching Staff : Jeff Raab, Brian Darrow, and Amy Pope
Raab
 Please contact Amy Pope Raab for all team communications

 All athletes are expected to attend practice each day unless
they have communicated with the coaches prior to an
absence
 Practice generally runs from 3:30-4:45, advanced runners
will typically run until 5PM
 Practice will be held Monday – Friday, unless otherwise
instructed

General Guidelines Continued
 A bus will take athletes to all meets from school – parents
may pick their children up from the meets or at SPS once
we’ve returned.
 Athletes may ride on the bus from SPS or travel with parents
to meets that are not on school days
 If you plan to meet the team at the race, please plan to
arrive at least 1 hour prior to your child’s race time
 Thank you to our team parents – Susie Goren and Janet
Peterson – please contact them if you would be willing to
help with the cost of drinks and snacks for the meets

Cross Country Specifics
 All athletes will run a 5K race at each meet
 The top 7-10 runners of each gender will run in the Varsity
race – this number is determined by the race host and may
be different for each race
 Uniforms will be distributed this week and must be returned
at the end of the season in order to avoid the $150 non-
returned uniform fee
 Team members may choose to purchase hoodies, t-shirts,
and bags - please contact Susie Goren if you are
interested.
 We will also be ordering a casual team t-shirt (approx. $10)
if your child is interested

XC Continued
 Athletes may leave each meet with a parent once he or she
has completed his or her race, however we encourage them
to stay as long as possible to cheer on teammates who may
be running in later races
 If your child is leaving the meet with you, please be sure to
sign out on the clipboard in the team tent area
 Any athletes not picked up at meets will return to SPS for
pick up
 Students riding the bus from meets will have access to a
phone with which to call home on our way back to SPS
 Students may leave the meet with another parent with
written permission

 The following pages will give specific instructions for
each meet
 Any students who wish to drive to meets MUST have a
driving permission form on file with the Athletic Office
 We will run a practice/mock 5K at Crescent Lake during
practice on Wednesday 8/28

9/5 IRCS
 Will be held at Taylor Park in Largo
 Students will be dismissed from class at 2PM
 All JV run at 4:15
 Varsity Girls 5PM
 Varsity Boys 5:30
 Varsity runners will be announced by Tuesday 9/3

UF 9/14
 All athletes riding the bus must be at SPS by 5AM
 Please bring money for lunch for the ride home
 9:05 Varsity Boys
 9:35 Varsity Girls
 10:05 JV Boys
 10:35 JV Girls
 Varsity runners will be announced by Weds 9/11
 We anticipate the bus will return to SPS around 3PM

9/21 Jim Ryun Open @
Holloway Park in Lakeland
 Those riding on the bus should be at SPS by 6AM
 Girls Varsity wave races begin at 8AM
 Boys Varsity wave races begin at 8:45
 JV Girls 9:30
 JV Boys 10:00
 We anticipate the bus will return to SPS around 12:30

9/27 Flrunners.com @ Chain of
Lake Park in Titusville
 Athletes will be dismissed from class at 9AM
 Please send money for lunch and dinner

 We anticipate the bus will return to SPS around 11PM

 10/3 @ CCC – still waiting on details from the school
 10/10 City Championship @ Crescent Lake – have not
yet received specific race times
 10/12 Pre-State @ Apalachee Regional Park in
Tallahassee – Varsity only, details TBA
 10/17 or 18 – Bay Conference Meet TBD – Final meet
for JV Runners

 10/25 District Meet @ Taylor Park – Girls 9:30, boys

 11/2 Regional Meet @ Holy Trinity in Melbourne (must
qualify)
 11/9 State Meet @ Apalachee Regional Park in
Tallahassee (must qualify)

 Saturday, September 28th 9-10AM in the Athletic Center

Please help your runner remember his or her uniform!
Those not in uniform will not be included in the team
