Rajesh Kumar Mahana (M. Tech, Water Resources, IIT Kharagpur)
Mr. Mahana has extensive experience in hydrodynamic and Sediment Transport modelling, both one and two
dimensional, including hydrological and hydraulics analysis for more than 8 years. He had been involved in many
consultancy projects involving estimation of High Flood Levels (HFL), flood inundation simulation, River
morphology and Reservoir sedimentation modelling and dam break modelling, water availability analysis and
rainfall-runoff modelling, design flood estimation (PMF, SPF and different return period) using the state of art
approach like hydro-meteorological and flood frequency approach. Mr. Mahana was involved in mathematical
modelling of reservoir sedimentation of Kuri-1 Hydro-electric project (Bhutan), Thana Plaun HEP on Beas River
in Himachal Pradesh, Upper Karnali HEP, Nepal, Kirthai-I HEP, J&K, Morphological study of Vansadhara river,
Odisha, Flood inundation modelling of Adhiya River Flood protection project in Gujarat, preparation of master
plan for flood and sediment management of Kosi river basin, setting up the 1D and 2D Flood hydrodynamic and
flood forecasting including inundation mapping models, setting up 1D and 2D morphological sediment transport
models, calibrating and validating the established models using historical data etc. He has well versed in
softwares like Mike 11, Mike 21C, Mike Flood, HEC RAS, HEC HMS, HEC SSP etc.
