1) The story describes a Mapuche legend about the moon, Cuy辿n, and the sun, Ant炭, who were married but grew apart and argued over time. 2) One night, Cuy辿n discovered Ant炭 kissing another woman, Collipal, and cried so much that her tears formed lakes. 3) A second legend tells of a great flood caused by the snake Kaykay that wanted to kill all living things, but was opposed by the good snake Txegtxeg who raised lands to save the Mapuche people. After a long battle, Kaykay surrendered and only four survivors were left to repopulate their culture.
