3. Career Summary:
Sign Specialists Ltd : 1986 - 2001 - Birmingham (14 years)
As an apprentice draughtsman, I created cutting files for both laser and Kongsberg router cutting
equipment.
Promoted to Drawing Office Manager within four years, I exploited the emerging technology
that would reduce repetitive design tasks and accelerate the production process.
Responsible for signage design for clients in the automotive, retail, petroleum and financial
sectors, I was also involved with numerous projects for the leisure industry, most notably the
EuroDisney theme park in 1992.
A typeface that I developed for Jaguar Cars was adopted for global use.
Modulex/Principle Systems : 2001 - 2004 - Billund/Northampton/Huddersfield (3 years)
Supporting the Modulex Customer Service Team I attended client meetings to provide
technical advice.
Using a laptop with 3D software, I was able to prototype signage concepts whilst on-site.
Involved with development of Ariadne Digital Signage System, I designed legible & concise
messaging templates for clients such as Barclays and British Telecom.
For Principle Systems I pursued a solo role, courting architects and design agencies in order
to establish relationships and offer bespoke signage solutions.
Clients included Telewest Broadband, Land Registry and Hutchison Whampoa, for whom I
developed the freestanding “3" which led to Italian and UK rollout programmes.
ASG : 2004 - 2010 - Warwick/Basildon (6 years)
In addition to strengthening house accounts such as KFC, Jaguar Land Rover and
Arcadia Group, my role is to ensure that ASG are recognised by key creative agencies
throughout the UK.
I provide technical advice regarding materials and construction techniques that assist
with the successful delivery of brand implementation.
New business wins for ASG have been of such calibre as Hilton Worldwide, JC Decaux Airport,
General Healthcare Group and Barclays.
The signage installation at Fort Dunlop on behalf of Urban Splash, is a career highlight,
resulting in ASG receiving three industry awards for the innovative lighting solution, design
and overall execution of the project.
