Emma lives in Tokyo, Japan and describes her typical school day routine. She wakes up at 7am, has breakfast, and bikes to school which takes 15 minutes. At school, she has 4 classes before lunch with a 15 minute break between the 3rd and 4th classes. Lunch is 40 minutes and she brings a packed lunch. School finishes at 3pm followed by a 10-15 minute tutor group meeting. Students then clean the classrooms and hallways. After-school activities are available from 4pm, and Emma sometimes plays volleyball or basketball and always attends orchestra practice on Wednesdays.

We have four classes before lunch. There is a fifteen- minute break between the third and fourth classes. We have 40 minutes for lunch. I always take a packed lunch. School finishes at three o´clock . Then we have a tutor group time, when our teacher talks to us for ten to fifteen minutes. After that, we clean the classrooms and the hallways. At four o´clock there are after-school activities. I sometimes play volleyball or basketball, and I always go to orchestra practice on Wednesday.
