Position Description: Multi-Skilled Lead - Carpenter
Primary Nature of Work: Residential Remodeling, Restoration, and Construction
[Alternate industry job title: Carpenter III]
Number of Openings: 2 full-time
Definition: A Lead Carpenter is defined as a craftsman with extensive skill and experience level, able to
manage job sites with multiple employees and trade contractors.
Work Description: Multi-skilled Lead Carpenter inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, rebuilds, constructs,
and maintains all aspects related to structures. General trade skills include but not limited to Rough &
Finish Carpentry; Siding/Stucco; Roofing; Drywall Installation & Repair; Taping & Texturing; Interior and
Exterior Painting.
Position Requirements:
Able to perform any and all remodeling phases to include but not limited to Framing,
Siding/Stucco, Roofing, Drywall, and Painting
On-call for Emergencies
Must process an Arizona Drivers License in good standing
Must pass a 7-year background check and drug test
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of five years in all related phases of residential construction. Lead experience.
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices,
procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control,
safety and applicable building codes. Able to manage a jobsite, employees and administrative
paperwork. Able to do layout, framing, finishing of typical projects, including new homes, room
additions, and all phases of remodeling. Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to
employees, and others. Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labor
estimates. Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to interpret job cost reports.
Interpersonal and Communications Skills: Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions, and
answer questions about construction processes to employees and subcontractors. Adept at establishing
relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working
relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.
Organizational Skills: Able to organize progress of multiple employees and trade contractors on a single
jobsite. Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for work orders, purchase orders, and time
sheets.
Problem Solving: Job requires that alternative solutions to resolve scheduling conflicts, project delays,
and design modifications be promptly and accurately presented to Supervisor.
Working Conditions: 99% of time is spent working at job sites. Substantial driving is required.
Physical: Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of remodeling projects. Requires
ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet, and crawl for distances of 50 feet. Job requires
ability to work with tools, lumber and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs. for
50 feet is required. Requires hands on of all phases of remodeling.
Hazards: Normal hazards associated with remodeling, restoration, and construction environment.
