Singapore Maritime Academy was presented the Excellence in Training Award at the Lloyd's List Asia Awards Ceremony 2016 for its commitment to maritime training and development in the region. SMA beat six other Asian institutions in the training category due to its forward-thinking approach and proactively identifying gaps in training by incorporating outside ideas. SMA's CEO, Mr. Soh Wai Wah, received the award on the academy's behalf.

- 1. Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) has been recognised for its commitment and excellence in maritime training and development in the region. SMA was presented the Excellence in Training Award at the Lloyd's List Asia Awards Ceremony 2016 held at Shangri-La Hotel on 20 October 2016. We were very honoured to have our PCEO, Mr. Soh Wai Wah, to receive the award. SMA beat six other institutions in Asia who are finalists in the same category to claim the award. The distinguished panel of judges, made up of industry experts and respected industry professionals, were impressed with SMA's forward thinking approach to training and how it has proactively looked for what is missing; bringing in ideas from outside the industry.
