SNAKES!
Arent they cool? Their beautiful
scales, their eyes, their fangslets
learn more about these fascinating
but misunderstood animals.

Most snakes are
non venomous.
Venomous snakes
mainly use it to kill prey.
Snake venom is produced in the back of the
snakes head in the salivary glands.
When a snake bites, muscles in the head squeeze
the salivary glands. This pushes the liquid through
its fangs and into the flesh of prey.
The fangs are hollow and like injection needles
that go under skin.
As for hunting methods
Snakes are able to smell with their tongue, it picks up chemical
Information about the prey.
5
Some snakes like pit vipers, boas
and pythons have heat vision.
They can detect changes in the
heat of the environment, such as
body heat of the prey, even in
complete darkness.
They generally have deficits in distance and color perception
but an amazing ability to detect movement.
7
Snake skin is made up of 2 main layers.
The soft colored tissue is called the dermis.
Dermis is filled with nerves and pigments.
8
Scales, the second layer of snakeskin, is much
harder than the dermis and made of keratin.
This part is used as a shield to protect the
animal. It is also shed regularly.
