SOCIALIZATION
We are ALL influenced by our upbringing, the media,
our education, and more.
As such, biases exist! Were human.
 Socialization is a lifelong process.
Constant awareness and continuous education is key.
We need to learn. We need to want to learn.

#BLACKLIVESMATTER
Systemic and historical oppression targeting Black
Americans
Oppression = cruel, unjust treatment with power dynamics
 #BlackLivesMatter highlights these injustices
 Awareness, education, continuing the conversation
#KSUsj
#ALLLIVESMATTER THE WHITE
RESPONSE
 What are thoughts on this?
 Is this acceptable?
 Is this problematic?
#KSUsj
#ALLLIVESMATTER THE WHITE
RESPONSE
It IS a racist, ignorant, and dismissive response
 #BlackLivesMatter doesnt mean others dont
 Obviously, all lives are important
But this isnt about YOU (white people)
Not ALL lives are targeted the same way the Black community is
White privilege is being outraged and angered by the Ferguson
Decision, rather than utterly terrified Scott Mendelson
