Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his Harvard classmates to allow college students to share photos and updates. It later expanded worldwide. Spotify, founded in 2006, allows users to stream and share music by artist, genre or playlist, with advertisements removed for Premium subscribers. Instagram, founded in 2010, enables sharing of photos and videos through the free mobile app, and was acquired by Facebook in 2012. Users can add filters and edits to their shared photos and videos.
