This document discusses a preliminary study for connecting the South Toowoomba (SOTO) and Central Toowoomba (CETO) zone substations with high temperature superconductors (HTS). It includes an aerial view of the existing 33kV network between SOTO and CETO, which are approximately 3km apart. The proposed HTS system would involve installing an underground 11kV HTS cable between SOTO and CETO to replace the existing overhead/underground 33kV feeders. The HTS cable would have capacity to transfer up to 60MVA of power and be implemented in two stages by 2025 and 2035.
