This document summarizes a study of improvements to an area along 21st Street in Southside, Pittsburgh. A team evaluated existing conditions and proposed a design to create a green gateway connecting Carson Street to the Southside Riverfront Park. The proposed design includes permeable pavement, vegetated swales, increased parking, and a new pedestrian bridge over the railroad to improve access to the park. The design was intended to manage stormwater runoff through monitoring systems and adjustable controls under the permeable surfaces.
