The Spanish conquered the Inca Empire in Peru in the 1500s, with Spanish soldiers and Inca renegades toppling the empire and consolidating power over the Andean region by November 16, 1532. Hernan Cortes also conquered the Aztec Empire in Mexico from 1519-1521, with the Spanish then ruling Mexico for 303 years while the Yucatan peninsula, part of modern Mexico, was previously part of the Mayan empire.
