Wrestling is still practiced regularly by approximately 14% of Turkey's male population and is considered the country's traditional national sport. Overall, 96% of Turks are interested in one or more sports, with the most popular being football (followed by 33% of the population), basketball (50% following the NBA championships), and tennis (46% following Grand Slam events). Less popular sports in Turkey are cricket and rugby, each attracting less than 1% of the population.
