Sports are a national passion in Britain and play an important social role. Cricket and football are the most popular team sports. Rugby exists in two forms, rugby union and rugby league, and has different class associations. Hunting, shooting, fishing, horse racing, and greyhound racing are popular animal-based sports involving gambling. While Britain excels in many team sports, it is rarely the best at individual sports due to a culture that values socializing over individual competition.
