CSK ropes in more sponsors, tops IPL franchisee list.
The IPL Season III is set for a flying start. The current season will see more fireworks among
franchisee teams with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the major IPL teams promoted by
India Cements, roping in more than half-a-dozen new sponsors in the current season to take
their total number to 18. This is considered to be highest in the IPL franchisee list.
To spruce its income further, CSK also entered into a five-year merchandising agreement
with marketing company Oceanbed to sell a host of products, including T-shirts, key-chains,
binoculars, hats, small bats, caps and across major retail outlets such as Landmark, Peter
England, Reebok, MegaMart and Univercell (mobile retail major in south).
3. Based on an independent survey by Brand Finance, CSK was found to be the most valuable
team going into the competition. Ticket sales have been encouraging and we have sold over
tickets worth Rs 2 crore already. With a week to go before its first match, CSK hopes that the
current season sale will exceed the first one’s total sales of Rs 11 crore, he said.
Muthoot Group has been signed as Principal Sponsor for the team. According to the
insidesport.co sources, the deal has been signed in a range of INR 15-16 cr per annum level.

A major part of the sponsorship is on India Cements, which is the parent company of the
owner of the CSK Franchise. ACT Fibernet has been signed as the official internet partner of
the team, alongside NOVA and iB Cricket, who are the digital media partners of the team.
