3. Египетские пирамиды
Самым большим чудом Египта, поражавшим людей
ещё в древности, были пирамиды - гробницы древних
египетских фараонов. Путешественникам, плывшим
по жёлтым водам Нила, всегда бросалась в глаза
резкая грань там, где Нильскую долину с её зелеными
полями и финиковыми рощами сменяют горячие
пески мёртвой Ливийской пустыни. А дальше на
западе видны удивительные пирамиды. Они
правильной формы и тянутся на десятки километров.
5. Висячие сады Семирамиды
Висячие сады Вавилона моложе пирамид. Они строились в те
времена, когда уже существовала "Одиссея" и возводились
греческие города. Но сады ближе к египетскому древнему
миру, чем к миру греческому. Сады знаменуют собой закат
ассиро-вавилонской державы, современницы древнего
Египта. Висячие сады оказались недолговечными и пропали
вместе с Вавилоном - величественным, но не прочным
гигантом из глины. На строительство садов, приюта для
царицы, были брошены все силы древнего царства, весь опыт
его строителей и математиков. И имя царицы сказочным
образом смешалось в памяти потомков с именем
правительницы Мидии - Семирамиды. Завоевателем
Вавилона стал Александр Македонский.
7. Статуя Зевса Олимпийского
Единственное чудо света, оказавшееся на Европейском
материке. Ни один из храмов Эллады не показался
грекам достойным звания чуда. И, выбрав в качестве
чуда Олимпию, они запомнили не храм, не святилище, а
только статую, стоявшую внутри. Главной святыней
Олимпии был храм Зевса с его статуей работы великого
Фидия. Высота статуи 12 метров, она была
величественна на золоченном, богато украшенном
троне, ее вид внушал повиновение и преклонение.
9. Храм Артемиды Эфесской
С храмом Артемиды Эфесской давно возникла путаница. Храм
строился многократно. Ранние деревянные здания приходили в
ветхость, сгорали или гибли от нередких здесь землетрясений.
И поэтому в середине VI века до н. э. было решено построить, не
жалея средств и времени, великолепное жилище для богини
Артемиды – Дианы- покровительницей охоты, тем более что
удалось заручиться обещанием соседних городов и государств
участвовать в столь солидном предприятии. Плиний в своем
описании храма, сделанном, правда, через несколько столетий
после его постройки, говорит, в частности: "...его окружают сто
двадцать семь колонн, подаренных таким же количеством
царей". Строительство стало до какой-то степени общим делом
соседей Эфеса (современная Турция)
11. Галикарнасский мавзолей
Мавзолей в Галикарнасе – столице Карии был
современником второго храма Артемиды. Одни и те же
лучшие мастера принимали участие в строительстве и
украшении их. Царь Мавсол, которому жена создала
Галикарнасский мавзолей был известен своей
жадностью, корыстью, богатством. Этим-то и
объясняется, почему гробница Мавсола была
причислена последней к чудесам света.
13. Колосс Родосский
Колосс Родосский - младший современник мавзолея и храма Артемиды.
Идея создать его родилась в 304 году до н. э., когда жители небольшого
острова, лежащего у берега Малой Азии, стоя на истерзанных долгой
осадой стенах, смотрели, как скрываются в море враги. Они решили
возвести статую в честь бога солнца Гелиоса, т.к. он помог отразить
атаки врагов.
Статую решили поручить изваять скульптору Харесу. Он предложил
сделать Гелиоса стоящим. В левой руке бог держал ниспадающее до
земли покрывало, правую приложил ко лбу, вглядываясь в даль.
Правда, такая поза не соответствовала канонам, но Харес понимал, что
Колосс не удержится, если бог протянет руку вперёд. Основой 32-х
метровой статуи послужили три массивных каменных столба,
скреплённые железными балками на уровне плеч. Основания столбов
были в ногах статуи и в покрывале. На высоте плеч и на поясе столбы
соединялись поперечными балками. На столбы и балки крепился
железный каркас, который покрыли чеканными листами бронзы
15. Александрийский маяк
Чудо, связанное с именем Александра Македонского -
Александрийский маяк. Александрия, основанная в 332 году
до н. э., раскинулась в дельте Нила. Это был один из первых
городов эпохи эллинизма, сооружённых по единому плану. В
Александрии стоял саркофаг Александра Великого, здесь же
находился мусейон - обиталище муз, центр искусств и
науки. Это сразу и академия наук, и общежитие для учёных,
и технический центр, и школа, и величайшая в мире
библиотека, в которой было до полумиллиона свитков.
Александийский маяк служил практической цели-
направлял корабли в гавань. Вершину маяка украшала
статуя бога морей Посейдона.
