This document discusses the speed-torque characteristics of induction motors operated with variable frequency drives (VFDs). It explains that induction motors have different torque capabilities at different speeds, with higher torque available at lower speeds. It also discusses how using a VFD allows controlling the motor speed by varying voltage and frequency while maintaining a constant volts-to-hertz ratio, as opposed to direct-on-line starting. This provides lower starting currents and finer control of motor speed and torque. The document provides graphs to illustrate induction motor speed-torque curves at different voltages and frequencies.
This document discusses creating an HTML5 audio visualization component. It introduces the author Kuan Min Sheng and their motivation to build a unique web component. It provides an overview of using the HTML5 Web Audio API, including the AudioContext, AnalyserNode, and ScriptProcessorNode interfaces. It then describes the component's modular design and shows examples of animating visualizations, handling user input, and addressing cross-browser compatibility issues. References for further reading are provided at the end.
Kevin Ha is a 22-year-old Korean-American who was born and raised in Queens, New York. He is finishing his last undergraduate class at New Paltz where he first took a class with Professor Rigolino. Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist is one of his favorite books as it is about finding the treasure within yourself. Recently, he read The Pleasures of the Damned by Charles Bukowski and was intrigued by Bukowski's critical and dark realism in his writing, which provides a stark contrast to the more hopeful messages in Coelho's work.
