Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

#3: Каждый владелец бизнеса считает, что знает своего покупателя.
Каждый интернет-деятель, либо человек, хоть немного разбирающийся в html считает, что знает каким должен быть сайт.
Чем больше опыта мы получаем, тем реже прислушиваемся к истинным потребностям потребителя, используя «накатанные» и проверенные схемы.
#4: Зачастую просто расходятся потребности.
Магазин стремится к повышению уровня конверсии, а пользователю всего лишь надо купить товар.
Пока бизнес и потребитель идут в разные стороны, общая цель достигнута быть не может.
Зарядите пользователя своей целью.
Давайте послушаем слова потребителя, относящиеся к нашим интернет-магазинам и сделаем выводы.
#5: Итак, ближе к задачам.
С чем обычно приходит пользователь в магазин?
Он знает что хочет купить;
Он предполагает, что хочет купить, понимая сумму денег на которую рассчитывает;
Он в большинстве случаев знает количество единиц желаемого товара. Все остальное спонтанные покупки.
Посмотрим на вопросы наших потребителей и найдем правила, позволяющие избежать этих вопросов.
#6: Первый озвученный вопрос: «В какую цену надо вписаться?».
Мы попросили пользователя выбрать кофемашину в рамках определенного бюджета.
На разных страницах магазина пользователь видит один и тот же товар в разной валюте. Без указания курса. Без возможности выбора валюты. Пользователь озадачен. Не зависимо от того, какая валюта у Вас базовая, он с ней уже свыкся с первых страниц и сравнивает товары именно в этой валюте.
Позвольте покупателю видеть цены и сравнивать товары, не вспоминая математику. Унифицируйте выдачу цен.
#7: В магазине флористики подойдем к ценам постепенно.
Задача была иной, необходимо было купить 7 роз. Найдя первую розу, человек ожидал определить количество 7 штук и счастливым сбежать с сайта с покупкой.
Однако варианта внести количество на этом этапе у него нет. Зато пользователь, привыкший к «левым» фотографиям очень остро реагировал на вазу. Первая ассоциация: зачем мне 7 ваз? Как купить цветок без вазы?
Итак вывод, задача пользователя купить 7 роз; первый шаг: клик на первую же розу, не обращая внимания на сопутствующий товар; результат: отсутствие возможность купить необходимое количество цветов и смятение от сопутствующих товаров.
#8: А теперь ближе к цене. Отмечу, что ни одна женщина не меняла стоимость с более низкой, которая выбрана по умолчанию и не интересовалась разницей в цене.
Мужчины были более любопытны и во всплывающей подсказке находили отличие: цветы различны по производителю, Украина и Голландия.
Однако, что нам может подсказать преимущество голландского цветка в магазине? Фотография, которая одна. Для пользователя цена не обоснована. Доверия к этой цене нет. Он не будет переплачивать. Вторая цена не работает. Он покупает дешевле.
#9: Еще особенности женщин, которые имеет смысл отметить – это поиск помощи в сложных ситуациях и внимание к изображениям. Это было замечено на разных сайтах и с разными респондентами.
Не найдя возможности выбрать количество 7 штук, женщина начинает искать помощь. В этом случае магазин ей помогает: он предоставляет на этой странице и консультантов и чат. Яркая картинка выигрывает и пользователь попадает на страницу чата.
#10: Представители магазина могут четко указать на надпись: Chat Offline и даже вполне обосновать необходимость заполнять эти поля.
Однако на картинке девушка с микрофоном и вопрос: «Нужна помощь?» – «Да, нужна. Сейчас кликну и со мной поговорит девушка. Это явно колл-центр».
Буквы не читаются, даже, если они красные и в верхнем регистре. А предоставленные поля вызвали раздражение. Никто из респондентов не прочел надпись сверху и не понял, что полезного они могут получить на имейл, если им сейчас необходимо получить помощь в поиске ввода количества товаров.
Не несите разочарования пользователю, дайте то, что он ожидает увидеть. Девушку, в данном случае=)
#11: Еще один призыв к действию на этой странице: «Вам достаточно этой информации?» Нет, пользователь по прежнему хочет найти куда внести количество товара. И кликает на очередную возможность найти помощь. Открытая форма опять дает ему понять, что никто ему оперативно не поможет, а второе разочарование и запрос имейла вызвал один замечательный вопрос: «Почему все хотят мой имейл?!».
Отсутствие ответа на этот вопрос увело пользователя и от этой попытки магазина получить имейл, но при этом насторожив его и повысив порог страха перед регистрацией.
Обосновывайте любые обмены данными с пользователем: контактная информация, финансовая – это то, что мы не хотим отдавать немотивированно.
#12: Еще один хороший пример о картинках, но сперва о странице, как таковой.
Это страница, на которую пользователь попадает после нажатия на кнопку «Заказать». Это вызывает искреннюю неожиданность и желание уйти, т.к. это уже не первый сюрприз для пользователя, так же как и накопленный негативный опыт на многочисленных сайтах уа-нета.
Однако на тестировании у него задача купить и он начинает читать, в поисках уже контактов на данной странице. Они есть в самом низу страницы. И вот здесь произошел очень интересный случай. По сути доказательство необходимости и целесообразности так называемого «call-to-action». Девушка находит глазами единственную картинку, на которой рассчитывает получить помощь.
#13: Эта картинка – баннер Яндекс-пробок. На вопрос почем она туда кликнула было простое объяснение; «Там была картинка, я думала мне там помогут». Светофор – не видела. Слово Яндекс – не видела. Видела рамку и яркую цифру – кликнула.
Отдельно отметим, что эта страница у пользователя открылась в том же окне и его просто выбросило с сайта.
Не позволяйте пользователю покидать сайт, если он дошел до последнего шага. Держите его на последнем шаге рядом. Не уводите даже по своему сайту. Позвольте реализовать и его потребность и, по сути, Вашу.
#14: Вот тут заметим особенность мужчин с опытом покупок в интернет-магазине. Они по-партизански молчали на отсутствие количества, предполагая, что их может порадовать корзина. В результате они уже не думали о цветах как таковых и торопились в корзину проверить будет ли поле «количество». И ликовали.
Но перейдем к оформлению заказа. На этом же сайте нас еще ожидает сюрприз на следующем шаге.
#15: В этом месте лучше всего слышать пользователя. Нам попались достаточно раскрепощенные и эмоциональные респонденты, это было интересно. Но в третий раз пользователю предложили форму для внесения имейла.
Но в данном случае есть совсем другая проблема. На странице написано авторизация. Пользователь не задумывается, регистрировался ли он на этом сайте. Он вносит имел – проходит покупку, но при повторном входе на сайт и задаче авторизироваться, спотыкается о поле для внесения пароля, который он не указывал. Также он его не получил по почте, как предполагал в последствии.
Ни один респондент не смог ответить правильно, регистрировался ли он на сайте. И это вызвало еще большее непонимание, для чего он вносил имейл.
В данном случае, при повторном заходе на сайт, по твоему имейлу подтягивается твоя контактная информация, которая немного облегчит процесс оформления покупки, однако сайт никак не объясняет свой запрос и пользователь в очередной раз не видит мотивации данного действия.
#16: Пару слов о подсказках пользователю. Избавьте пользователя от полей, которые для него будут непонятными. В данном случае это «Промо код». Единственное поле, которое требует подсказки, что это, однако ее нет.
На данную страницу пользователи тратили не 10 минут своего времени и далее видели 2 ссылки, позволяющие перейти на другую страницу: «Доставка» и «Помощь». Поверьте, 40% респондентов не поставили галочку, сказав «Нет, я не ознакомился» и перешли к чтению условий доставки.
#17: Эта фраза мне очень понравилась. Теперь посмотрите, к чему она относилась.
#18: Это описание условий доставки магазина. 6 экранов. Более 300 ссылок. Можно понять для чего магазину это необходимо, однако это не нужно пользователю. Для него это возможность уйти от покупки навсегда.
#19: Каждая из 300 ссылок на регионы Украины позволяет перейти к товарам в этом регионе. Более 300 возможностей для пользователя забыть об оформлении покупки.
#20: Но на страницу он заходил не зря. Опять же, накопленный опыт. Пользователь не в первые покупает в интернет-магазине и ожидает сюрпризов при доставке. И находит их, хотя сайт открыто ему говорил, что доставка бесплатна.
Предоставляйте правдивую информацию своевременно. Не уводите на страницы о доставке, скажите кратко сколько это стоит в этот момент времени и позвольте просто завершить покупку.
#21: Это основные фразы, которые от респондентов. С одной стороны, ожидания пользователей от процесса покупки в интернет-магазинах не оправдались, однако резюмирующая фраза была иной…
#22: Это еще одна цитата наших пользователей. Ежи плакали, кололись, но продолжали жрать кактус=)
#23: Итак, о чем стоит помнить, чтобы стать хоть немного ближе к нашим покупателям:
Не потребитель выпрашивает у нас товар, а магазин делаем предложение. Потребитель во главе угла.
Утверждение «Я знаю своего клиента» заведомо ложно. Тот, кто изучал своего потребителя понял, что потребности покупателя могут отличаться от его личных.
Если пользователь хочет купить- позвольте ему это сделать здесь и сейчас.
Обосновывайте свои требования и запросы от покупателя. Он предоставит необходимую Вам информацию, если будет понимать для чего это. И что он ничем не рискует.
