Vietnam is working to widely adopt open source software in government agencies. By the end of 2009, 70% of computers in ministries and local agencies must be installed with open source software and 70% of IT staff trained to use it. Vietnam has also developed several open source geospatial portals and applications, including a web GIS, geospatial data portal, and mobile GIS applications. However, participation in OpenStreetMap in Vietnam is still small but growing, aided by donations from some Vietnamese companies.
