This document provides guidelines for safely transporting and stacking various furniture items on dollies. Key points include:
- Files should always be positioned vertically on dollies and never stacked on their sides. Multiple dollies can be used if a file overhangs or heavier files should be on the bottom.
- Peds and smaller files are best transported on smaller dollies while large carpeted dollies work best for large files. Peds should have padding between if stacked and never be in contact if painted.
- All roll-around peds must be transported on their backs and never on their tops, sides, or wheels to prevent damage. Care should be taken in following proper stacking and transport methods.
2. File dollies by design have a very limited use.
This dolly is most compatible with files but peds and other similar
products may be staged on this dolly if care is taken in the way the product
is positioned on the dolly.
Freights that are larger then this dolly are NOT compatible.
3. Large carpeted dollies are
best utilized by staging large
files upon them.
While smaller dollies are
best utilized by staging
pedsand smaller files upon
them.
But files weather in a carton or not they must ALWAYS be staged in the
user position, vertically on the dolly.
4. Never stage a file on its side.
Multiple dollies should only be used when a file
overhangs a dolly.
If you must stack a file on top of another fileboth
filesMUST be laid onthere back.
When stacking dollies the heaviest file MUST go on
bottom to prevent damage to the files.
5. To find which file is the heaviest look on the product
label and find the weight.
When stacking files you should NEVER use drawer
pulls as handles or place a pallet on top of the product.
6. If the dolly is big enough for two dollies separate
them with cardboard or another material to keep
them from getting damaged or scratched.
The benefit to stacking more then one product on
a dolly is that it allows for one person to complete
the loading by themselves.
8. When staging multiple peds on a carpeted dolly never allow
painted surfaces to contact one another.
Four peds may be staged on a carpeted dolly if proper
dividers are used.
There must be at least three pads between stacked files
and anything on top of files that are not in cartons.
9. When handling any products thatisin a carton with
banding avoid using the banding as handlesbecause the
bandings will fail and break.
