This document discusses advancing empathy and human-centered design to solve inequality. It argues that when addressing human needs related to suffering, the first step must be a deep understanding of ourselves. Examples are given of how public health students and researchers can work directly with communities to redesign health care services and address their needs through participatory approaches. The goal is to move from chaos to community by building better relationships and understanding between minorities and researchers.
