CALCULATION SULPHUR OINTMENT PREPARATION 4 ? According to IP, strength of Sulphur ointment is 10%. ? 100 gm of Sulphur ointment contains 10 gm Sulphur. ? Therefore 10 gm Sulphur ointment contains 1 gm Sulphur. ? So, amount of White soft paraffin needed is 10-1 = 9 gm
METHODS OF PREPARATION SULPHUR OINTMENT PREPARATION 5 1. Sieving: Sulphur will be passed through sieve no 85. 2. Weighing: Weigh the sieved Sulphur as per the working formula. 3. Trituration: Sulphur will be triturated with a portion of simple ointment (White soft paraffin) until smooth. 4. Mixing with Simple ointment: Gradually add the remaining quantity and mixed thoroughly. 5. Filling in container: Fill the smooth ointment in a wide mouth container.
