This document discusses Laurel Felt's work with various digital media literacy projects in Senegal between 2011 and 2012, including training workshops called Sunukaddu 2.0 in Mbour and training the trainers, a summer sandbox program, a laughter for change program at RFK-LA, and a project on youth access to jobs led by Tidiane THIANG. It provides links to related websites and acknowledges contributions to this work.
In my absence, Tidiane and our colleague Idrissa, who we both affectionately referred to as our father, continued to share the Sunukaddu method. On February 1, 2011, Tidiane sent me nine huge photo files ; each depicted an image of employees from Senegalese non-profit organizations as they used the Sunukaddu method in a training workshop that Tidiane and Idrissa led.
“ I’d like to send you the photos from the Sunukaddu training that we’re in the middle of doing inMbour [a city in Senegal approximately 81 km south of Dakar, also along the Atlantic coast]… “It’s great to do Sunukaddu in Mbour because it’s a tourist-y area and it’s the place where the tax rate is the highest in Senegal, and also the poverty is such that tourists have power over local residents…”
I'm drafting proposals to scale up sunukaddu in three additional countries ( burkina, Niger and Benin) this would make sunukaddu a 6 countries project ( Senegal, Mali, Guinea)... Also, osiwa is back on rack and is asking us to draft a proposal for sunukaddu in senegal.... So things are really interesting But we are not ready yet to provide adequate training ... I need te re design all the curriculum, develop a distance learning website, guides and manuals, etc. Hey Laurel, We are remolding the curriculum for scale up. We would like it to be based on NML & SEL competencies… but feel there are too many of them and wish to group some of them…. have you ever started working on something like this ? Any idea ? Any doc to share with us ? Thanks for your help! Cheers, Alex
