Certain unreasoning beliefs called "superstitions" arise in communities from fear, helplessness, or coincidences and have existed since the first humans. Many superstitions have no basis in science, reason, modern thought, or religion. While superstitions contradict wisdom and reason, unfortunately they remain difficult to remove from human hearts, minds, and consciences.
