INTRODUCTION
 Obesity is a well-established risk factor for atherosclerosis.
 Adipose tissue comprises various depots including WAT, BAT and
thoracic and abdominal perivascular adipose tissue PVAT.
 Atherosclerosis is promoted by energy-storing adipose depots and
attenuated by energy-combusting adipose tissue
HYPOTHESIS
 To understand the mechanistic link between Adipose tissue and
development of atherosclerosis.
 This Article provides an overview of types and function of
adipose tissues, and specific strategies to reduce the risk of
Atherosclerosis.
ATHEROSCLEROSIS
 Hypercholestremia
 LDL,VLDL, remenent particles in vessel walls.
 Triglyceride-rich lipoproteins contribute to
Atheroscelerosis
ADIPOSE TISSUE TYPES
 Adipose tissue is the main site for energy storage
 Composed of adipocytes
 The main adipose tissue depots are classi鍖ed as white
adipose tissue (WAT), brown adipose tissue (BAT) and
perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT).

CONCLUSION
 WAT,BAT, PVAT play important role in development of
atherosclerosis.
 To reduce risk of atherosclerosis , the most favourable
approach to eliminate TRL is,
by increasing combustion of fatty acid in BAT, and reduce lipid
storage in WAT.
