The Tata Second Career Internship Programme (SCIP) was launched in 2008 to provide career opportunities for women returning to the workforce after a career break. SCIP offers attractive internship projects between 3-6 months with potential for full-time roles. It aims to increase employee retention and productivity while benefiting from experienced talent. The programme helped women like Priyamvada Merchant and Anu Unnikrishnan regain their confidence and professional skills after long breaks to care for families. Similar returnship programmes have also been adopted by other large companies to bring back skilled women.
