This document provides information about the Resource Teachers of Mori (RTM) Te Rp笛 Takawaenga ki Murihiku in Southland, New Zealand. It introduces the RTM team members and describes some of the services they provide to schools and communities to support Mori language and culture, such as facilitating marae visits, harakeke activities, and waiata lessons. It also shares some insights about the local papatipu marae and the migratory patterns of the t朝t朝 seabirds that nest in the southern islands.

Used in the old days, as well as today, by one whanau from Awarua, to preserve the t朝t朝 (mutton birds). Ko Takitimu te Mauka Ko Murihiku te Whenua Although our Whakatauaki refers to the Summer (that we really didnt have for many days!) the harakeke and tikauka certainly had masses of bloom this year. Some say it is a tohu (sign) that the Summer will be good and that the T朝t朝 season will be a succes, the birds plentiful and fat. On a haerenga (trip) to Piopiotahi (Milford) recently I saw T朝t朝 feeding on kai while at sea on the West Coast. They have been spotted locally too. Amazing birds, the journey they make every year and return to the Southern Islands to nest and rear their young. RTMs are Inservice Teacher Educators. (ISTEs) We are available to assist you, your school, BOT, individual teachers and / or your community with (almost) anything to do with Kaupapa Maori. Examples: Facilitate Marae visits; harakeke activities; to support Mori Language Programmes and Resource making; to provide guidence and krero on a History of Murihiku; practical lessons on ukelele and waiata; facilitate Karanga Wananga; assist with Specific Assessment Tools (Panui Haere - Running Records); Tikanga around various Mori Practises; Whole Staff Presentations on a Kaupapa Mori take; Ideas for Art and Crafts; Papatipu Runaka / Mana Whenua liaise; Treaty Training; etc If we are unable to help you we will advise and direct you to the persons or expertise you are requiring. 8:30am - 4:30pm Hokonui Murihiku Marae Takutai o te T朝t朝 Awarua Gore Invercargill Oraka / Colac Bay Bluff
