- 20. Some Recommendations Preview the overarching concept. Preview cultural concepts/ vocabulary. Divide the article into logical sections. Look for dominant modes of rhetoric. Distinguish between opinions the author supports and those s/he’s citing in order to argue against them. Encourage students to use their own experience and observations. Identify the author’s theoretical standpoint, political framework, biases, etc. Stress the importance of reaching the end.
