Technology can be defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. There are several types of technology including information technology, medical technology, communication technology, transportation technology, energy and power technology, and nanotechnology. Information technology allows information to be sent around the world through devices like televisions, the internet, satellites, GPS, and cell phones. Medical technology creates tools to treat disease and injury using technologies like lasers, prosthetics, ultrasound, and medications. Communication technology is used to exchange information through magazines, DVDs, photography, video games, and social networks.
