Teks eksplanasi adalah teks penjelasan yang membuat sesuatu jelas dan dapat dimengerti. Teks eksplanasi kompleks menjelaskan hubungan sebab akibat dengan menyisipkan deskripsi atau cerita penjelas, dan urutan kejadian tidak boleh dibalik agar tetap akurat. Tujuan teks eksplanasi kompleks adalah untuk menjelaskan serangkaian proses alami baik fenomena alam maupun sosial.
