Telecom Italia launched the Archimede project in 2008 to collect ideas from its 22,600 technology employees to enhance business processes and innovation. Archimede uses an online platform to allow employees from different backgrounds and locations to submit and comment on ideas. Ideas are evaluated by expert teams and the highest rated ideas are selected for implementation. Over time, Archimede expanded its reach within the company and improved participation and idea quality. It has resulted in process improvements, best practice sharing, and operational benefits for Telecom Italia.
