4. BLACKBODY
A black body is a body that always absorbs
all EM radiation completely falling on it
irrespective of its frequency and angle.
There is no real existence of black body. A
good approximation is a small hole in the
wall of a large insulated hollow enclosure.
The incident energy goes inside through
this hole and gets reflected again and again
against the inner wall of that black body,
not able to escape. The hole acts as a
perfect absorber.
The nature of the radiation leaving the
cavity through the hole depends only on the
temperature of the cavity.
8. Emissivity
The emissivity of an object is the ratio of the energy radiated to that which the object
would emit if it were a Black Body. Hence emissivity is expressed

Emissivity is therefore an expression of an objects ability to radiate Infrared energy.
The value of emissivity tends to vary from one material to another. With metals a rough or
oxidized surface usually has a higher emissivity than a polished surface. Here are some

10. Cavity Shape and Size
The size and shape of the cavity
can be varied, and there are no
fundamental restrictions on
creating it, but its emissivity will
depend on the size of the aperture
compared to the total internal
surface area. The lower this ratio
is, the better emitter and closer to
a blackbody the cavity will
become.

16. DIFFERENTIAL BLACK BODY
USER INTERFACE
Absolute Mode: In absolute mode
there will be temperature indication
for Emitter plate and target but no
temperature difference will be shown.
We can control only emitter temp
only.
Differential Mode: In differential
mode we can change temperature
difference between emitter and target
needed. We have to put delta T value
as set point. Controller will automatic
change emitter temperature to achieve
desired delta T value.
