Microbiologically influenced corrosion can damage pipelines and storage tanks. To prevent this type of corrosion, operators should follow ten best practices: clean and disinfect systems, maintain biocides, monitor for microbial growth, remove water and sediments, protect cathodic areas, control temperature and moisture, select appropriate materials, improve drainage, train personnel, and conduct inspections.
