An international census was
held across the Roman
Empire during the first
Christmas. Some people
worked round the clock, using
their skill and talent to
complete the census.

And
this
was
achieved without the
use of the telephone,
internet
and
computers.

THE INN KEEPER
The inn keeper displayed a
unique sense of talent and
resource management. All inns
were fully occupied. Unlike the
21st century, they couldn’t book a
room in advance of their arrival;
it was strictly first come first
served.


THE INN KEEPER
Nevertheless, the inn
keeper attended to the
accommodation need of
the heavily pregnant
woman; he turned over
his animal stable for the
use of the expectant
couple.


THE INN KEEPER
The inn keeper rather
than turn them away like
others did; provided his
inn’s storage facilities for
them to use.

THINK OUT OF THE BOX

THE INN KEEPER
By this singular act, he
entered
history
books;
though this happened over
2,000 years ago, people are
still trooping to visit the
stable in his inn, where he
allowed Jesus to be born.


THE PRIESTS AND TEACHERS OF
RELIGIOUS LAW

These were men learned in
religious matters; they knew
that a Messiah was to be born
in the land. They used their
talent and knowledge to seek
further
information
to
determine the location where
the Messiah will be born.

They were aware of a
documented source where
they can obtain accurate
information
to
better
understand events.

However, they were limited to
using their talents just to seek
for more information and add
to their knowledge. They were
not actively interested in the
application of their acquired
knowledge.

history and future of their
community; they were not
interested
about
the
implication of their acquired
knowledge.

Even an evil King Herod,
understood the implication of
the
information
they
provided.

BE WISE, USE YOUR
ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

THE WISE MEN
These were described as wise men. The main
reason that these men were referred to as wise,
was that they correctly applied their acquired
knowledge.

THE WISE MEN
They saw a Star, and they knew that this Star was
different from numerous others they had seen and
studied.

THE WISE MEN
From their further studies, they understood the
significance of the Star – that a great King has been born
in a foreign land.

GO THE
EXTRA MILE

THE WISE MEN
They did not limit themselves to the acquisition of
this knowledge; they acted on their findings; they
prepared and undertook a long journey.

THE WISE MEN
They were convinced that they must see this great King
whose Star they saw in their own land.

THE WISE MEN
Today, the Christmas story is not complete without the
mention of the wise men and the three wonderful gifts
they brought for the King.

THE ANGELS
An angel announced the
good news of the birth of
Jesus
at
the
first
Christmas to a group of
shepherds watching their
flock.

The
angel
was
a
broadcaster of good and
positive news; the angel
gave information that
will gladden the hearts of
the hearer.

BE POSITIVE, SPREAD JOY

The information motivated
the hearer to experience
new things.

BE A MOTIVATOR

THE ANGELS
The angels used their talent to
share wonderful information
and gave a beautiful display to
the startled shepherds.


BE OCCUPIED

THE SHEPHERDS
The shepherds were watching their flock; managing
their business and suddenly they were thrown into a
life transforming experience of seeing angels.

THE SHEPHERDS
The shepherds heard good news from an angel; saw a
magnificent angelic concert; immediately left their
business and went into the town to see the baby Jesus.

SHARE GOOD
NEWS

THE SHEPHERDS
They were among the first set of callers to visit the
baby Jesus and his parents. They received unspeakable
joy from this experience and they too became a
broadcaster of the good news.

THE SHEPHERDS
Their acceptance of the good news and visit to baby
Jesus sealed their place forever in the Christmas story.

THE ANIMALS
Okay they are not people nevertheless we can learn from
how they used their talents; before Pudsey (of the
Ashleigh and Pudsey Act that won the 2012 edition
of Britain’s Got Talent), animals has been using their
talents.

BE EXPECTANT

THE ANIMALS
This night was an exceptional one; the animals will have
wondered why the inn keeper was disturbing their night
rest and cramping them together.

THE ANIMALS
However, the animals did not complain about the
intrusion into their space; they did not bolt away; they
were exceptionally calm that night; they did not disturb
the birth process.

BE HUMBLE

THE ANIMALS
As a result they had an unforgettable life changing
experience many human will have desired.

BE SUPPORTIVE
OF OTHERS

JOSEPH
Joseph used all the talents he had acquired
growing up; he supported his wife and the newly
born baby.

JOSEPH
He was the emergency midwife for the birth
process; he experienced the gift and joy of
fatherhood.

MARY
Mary experienced a safe
delivery against all odds,
considering
the
long
journey and lack of a
comfortable environment;
she experienced the gift
and joy of motherhood.

BE DETERMINED

YOU ARE
ENDOWNED
WITH TALENT

JESUS
Jesus was born into the world like every
other human with a deposit of talent to use
for God’s glory and benefit of mankind.

BRING
POSITIVE
CHANGE

JESUS
Even before His birth, men, women and
God’s creation has began to experience a
profound change.

JESUS
Before His birth, Zacharias and Elizabeth
experienced the joy of parenthood when
they had John the Baptist.

JESUS
Wise men in the East saw His Star and
shepherds had an angelic encounter.

YOU
This Christmas, consider these ten people
that used their talent at the first Christmas
