Terry Frost was a British abstract painter born in 1915 in Leamington Spa, England. He worked in various jobs as a young man including in an aircraft factory where he was allowed to paint identification circles on bombers. During World War II he was captured and spent four years as a prisoner of war in Bavaria. There he began painting seriously, inspired by his fellow prisoner and painter Adrian Heath. After the war he settled in St. Ives, Cornwall where he was influenced by the abstract artist community and began producing his own abstract works in the early 1950s. Frost was known for his use of bright colors and simple geometric forms to create visual effects beyond mere imitation of reality. He worked in many mediums
