Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart condition involving four abnormalities: a defective septum between the ventricles, narrowing of the pulmonary artery, and cyanosis. The exact causes are unknown, but risk factors include German measles, poor nutrition, alcohol use, advanced maternal age, and certain genetic disorders like Down syndrome. Symptoms may include cyanosis of the skin, shortness of breath, fainting, clubbed fingers and toes, poor weight gain, and heart murmurs. Diagnosis involves tests like echocardiograms, electrocardiograms, and x-rays. Treatment options are complete repair surgery, temporary surgery, or managing "tet spells".
